A reading from my debut novel, Things Unsaid, on Wednesday, March 2, at 7:00 pm at BooksInc, in the Town & Country shopping center in Palo Alto, on El Camino Real across from Stanford University.     I am one of five authors (Donna Stoneham, Connie Hanstedt, Kate Jessica Raphael, and Rita Gardner) who  read for five minutes, followed by a discussion to celebrate Women’s History Month.  Wendy Tokunaga, award –winning author of Love in Translation and other novels, was the moderator.  This was a lot of fun!

IN HER OWN WORDS … Local authors will come together in Palo Alto for an evening of stories — both factual and fictional — as part of a panel presented by She Writes Press and Books Inc. The event will include Diana Y. Paul (“Things Unsaid”); Kate Raphael (“Murder Under the Bridge: A Palestine Mystery”); Constance Hanstedt (“Don’t Leave Yet: How My Mother’s Alzheimer’s Opened My Heart”); Rita M. Gardner (“The Coconut Latitudes: Secrets, Storms and Survival in the Caribbean”); and Donna Stoneham (“The Thriver’s Edge: Seven Keys to Transform the Way You Live, Love and Lead”). The event will take place at 7 p.m. on March 2, at Books Inc., 74 Town & Country Village, Palo Alto.

March 19, 2016– Workshop for Independent Writers of Southern California, Los Angeles

“Love the Ones You Hate—Creating Appealing Flawed Characters”: A Workshop for Independent Writers of Southern California (IWOSC)

Saturday, March 19, 2016: 10:30-1:00 pm, Culver City

I will be reading from Things Unsaid to give a few examples of how flawed characters are developed.  Since this is an informal workshop, I will encourage the other writers to read from their own writing or from some of their favorite authors as well so we can open the discussion about characters we love to hate.  In addition to reading from my own novel, I will read a few passages from Olive Kitteridge (Elizabeth Strout) and Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant (Anne Tyler).
